Liverpool and Tottenham are unlikely to sign Evan Ndicka from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.

The centre-back has impressed for Frankfurt over the past couple of seasons. He has played 178 times for the German side over the past five years.

The 23-year-old was included in the Bundesliga team of the season for the 2021/22 campaign and he has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the past year.

Speaking last summer, Frankfurt journalist Christopher Michel claimed Ndicka is the “complete package” who is capable of “playing in a top team”.

“His big weakness is that he sometimes switches off too early and recognises dangerous moments too late. A great defender,” Michel told.

He added: “Evan Ndicka can play in a top team and become a French national player. Ndicka has it in his hands whether he rises to become one of the top defenders in Europe.”

They claimed both clubs will ‘make contract proposals at the end of the season’ as they are ‘eager to improve’ their options at centre-back this summer’.

But a fresh report from journalist Dean Jones reveals Liverpool are not intending to “push for” Ndicka. Instead, he thinks “Napoli is a more likely destination” for the highly-rated defender.

“Liverpool have been linked with Evan Ndicka as a potential solution to helping their defensive depth for next season, but it seems Napoli is a more likely destination,” Jones told Give Me Sport.”

“It’s an interesting one because the profile of the player seems a good fit, but over the past couple of weeks I have struggled to find anyone that believes it is going to be a deal Liverpool push for.”

“And now in Italy, there seems to be confidence that Napoli are looking at him and are putting themselves in a good position to make a proposal.”
