Man Utd midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has reportedly made it clear that he ‘would like’ to remain at the club beyond the end of this season.

The Bayern Munich star joined Man Utd on loan during the January transfer window. This transfer was completed after Christian Eriksen suffered an injury that ruled him out for a couple of months.

Sabitzer only started seven times for the Bundesliga giants during the first half of the season but he has made a positive impact under Erik ten Hag. He has grabbed three goals and one assist in his 16 outings for Man Utd.

His loan deal to United does not include a buy option so the English club will have to negotiate with Bayern Munich if they want to sign him on a permanent basis.

Bayern Munich values Sabitzer at around £25m. ‘Bayern are happy to let Sabitzer leave but having seen his form at Old Trafford expect around £25m.’

‘Manchester United see this as too high for the 29-year-old, but he’s under contract at Bayern until 2025 which allows Bayern to be a bit more bullish with negotiations.’

Sabitzer has now openly stated that he is “enjoying” his time at Man Utd as “people are crazy” about the Premier League club.

“I’ve already experienced a lot in my career, including Bayern Munich. Here, everything is bigger. There are even more people who care about you,” Sabitzer told.

“People are crazy about Manchester United. You can feel it at Old Trafford. So I can only say that I enjoy being here and I’m very proud to have managed to be a part of the club.”

On Casemiro, he added: “He [Casemiro] is an experienced player who has won everything at a global level that can be won. And he has done it several times.

“There’s no need to talk about his value because he’s an exceptional player, he holds the team together. He’s a leader on the pitch. I think we have extremely high quality in midfield right now. That’s why we’re in the position we’re in now.”

Since leaving Bayern Munich, Julian Nagelsmann has been replaced by Thomas Tuchel. Sabitzer has also revealed that he has had “no contact” with the former Chelsea head coach.

“So far, of course, there has been no contact. Everyone is focused on their task. In which direction it will go, we will analyse later and we will discuss everything calmly.”

Plettenberg has revealed that he got the impression from Sabitzer that he ‘wants to join’ Man Utd and a return to Bayern Munich is ‘still unlikely’.
