Real Madrid will reportedly prioritise a move for Jamal Musiala if they are unable to secure the signing of long-term target Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for several years and could have the chance to make the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu as a free agent next summer.

Los Blancos though have hit back at ‘completely false’ claims that they have held talks with Mbappe, in a statement published on Saturday.

German publication BILD have now reported that the Bayern playmaker Musiala could be Real Madrid’s Plan B if they fail to land Mbappe.

Though Musiala is still only 20-years-old, he has already made 138 appearances and netted 35 goals for Bayern Munich.

His performances led to him finishing second behind friend Jude Bellingham in the race for the Kopa Trophy, at the recent Ballon d’Or awards.

German international Musiala played alongside Bellingham in England’s youth ranks at U15, U17 and U21 level, and could reunite if the Bayern star made the jump to the Santiago Bernabeu.

BILD claim that Bayern would have to almost triple Musiala’s £6.9m-a-year salary if they want to keep the highly-coveted youngster.

Man City are also keen on Musiala, with Pep Guardiola to see him as the ‘legitimate successor’ to 32-year-old star Kevin De Bruyne.

Bayern Munich’s chief executive, Jan-Christian Dreesen, recently said the Bundesliga giants would do well to keep their player ‘for as long as possible’.

he said: ‘Jamal is already a fantastic footballer.

‘He has incredible qualities and so much potential to improve. We would do well to keep him for as long as possible.’

Musiala made his Bundesliga debut for Bayern Munich at the age of 17 years and 115 days against Freiburg in June 2020.

He enjoyed his best season to date last term, scoring 16 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

This campaign, he has netted four goals and registered three assists in 13 games across all competitions.
